Joel was the oldest child of David Stites of St Petersburg, FL, Linda Stites of Elgin, IL, and the awesome "big" brother of sisters, Tessa Copeland of Elgin, IL, Jane Stites of Lake in the Hills, IL, and Susie Stites, Roseville, CA. Joel Gibbs Stites, 49, of Los Angeles, CA, passed away Februpeacefully at his home. Throughout his life he traveled to many places including Spain, Rome, Venice, Greece, Switzerla. While his career in the car business spanned 40+ years, his love of cars, specifically Corvettes, Cadillacs, and Jeeps, lasted his lifetime.īob loved his friends, good food and wine, travel, music, and waterskiing/houseboating and he loved his family more than anything. He later began his career in the car business, selling cars at Morris Landy Ford and Good Chevrolet in Alameda to being General Manager and Partner at Cochran and Celli Chevrolet and Connell Auto on Broadway Auto Row in Oakland. He loved that job as it allowed him to explore his interest in interior design. After completing his service, he worked at JCPenney, first selling men's clothes in Oakland, then decorating the windows of the five-story JCPenney in San Francisco. A resident of Moraga, CA, Bob was born in Oakland, CA on January 28, 1940, to Jack Sebastiano Rubino and Mona (Chapman) Rubino.Īfter high school, he joined the Air Force (1958-1961) and was stationed in Georgia, Florida, and then Greenland. Robert (Bob) Rubino, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on March 10, 2023, surrounded by those he loved.
